Jazz music's influence on the Beats essays The writings of the poets of the Beat Generation, namely Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, resulted from the many factors of the time in which they wrote. They were accused of being crazy, yet their only real fault was writing with complete honesty. Their originality consequently placed them on the outskirts of society. The post-war, in which their poetry thrived, was a huge influence on their writing. Also influential on the poets literature was jazz music at this time; evoking many of the same feelings that these marginalized poets were feeling. Jazz was used either in coherence with poetry or as an inspiration for some of the writing techniques. The post-war era and the jazz music of the time heavily impacted the writings of Kerouac and Ginsberg. These two factors created for them inspiration as well as an outlet through which they escaped war and the negative aspects and feelings of the times. Both the jazz musicians and the writers of the Beat Movement were able to relate to the same type of feeling: ostracism. The predominantly African American jazz musicians were feeling ostracized during this time period because of the discrimination against their race. Like these musicians, the writers of the Beat Movement, although chiefly white males, were not accepted because of their desire to go against the norms of society. In this respect, the two groups were able to relate to one another on a certain level. The Beat writers were able to use the feelings, evoked by the jazz, in order to inspire them because they were able to relate to the music. We do not have to assume that they used the feelings given by the jazz music to inspire them, the writers show us that they use jazz as an inspiration as well as a type of literary device in their writings. The monster is not born evil, and his corruption is not his fault. The monster becomes a violent creature after he learns from the human society. The monster was shunned, beaten and offended. His reward for saving a girl was being shot. He was like Adam. Adam was also born innocent through God, until he tasted the apple from the Tree of Knowledge, from then on he was cast from the heavenly paradise of innocence. In the gothic era science was feared because people were not ready for change. As a result of living in the dark ages; there was no great change made in sciences. When Victor made the creation using science it brought great fear to the society. People feared of how the monster looked like and what it was able to do. The novel as a hole is linked to chapter 5 because the theme of playing God is still present in the novel. When God created Adam, Adam felt lonely. It is basically the turning point of the novel; where the creation is made. The writers use of language is relevant to how the characters behave and how the writer sets up the atmosphere of the novels setting. Reading the novel is educational and teaches alot, similar to how the 19th century life was different from the life we live in now. This brings up the question would the creature be treated differently if it had been created now? Introduction It is 8 o’clock in the morning. The alarm clock rings and everybody in the house wakes up. Kids get ready for school, adults go to work. Only Almas is not in a hurry, it has been six months since he graduated from university and cannot find a job that suits him. While studying at university everything seemed so easy: â€Å"Graduate, find a good job, become rich†. However, in reality, getting a job came out to be not as easy as he expected. Youth unemployment is one of the problems in the world nowadays.The percentage of unemployed young people in Kazakhstan is equal to 28. 6% (â€Å" †, 2006). This means that the big portion of youth cannot find proper jobs. It is a recognized fact that unemployment is one of the dynamics through which the social condition of a country can be defined. First of all, how can â€Å"youth† be defined? Youth is considered as either a phase of life or as a social category. The phase of life refers to youth being th e period between childhood and adulthood. In this report I will consider young people at the age of 20 to 24.Secondly, what is considered as â€Å"unemployment†? According to Investopedia (2012), unemployment is â€Å"when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work†. According to the United Nations Economic Committee for Europe (UNECE, 2011), youth unemployment was one of the drivers of the worldwide financial crisis in 2008. Thus, a governmental youth policy is one of the main policy directions in which a lot of countries all over the world are trying to improve nowadays. The Republic of Kazakhstan is also in the list of these states.The attitude of the Kazakhstani government to young people is seen in the law â€Å"About governmental youth policy† ?581 from 7th of July 2004 (Kazahstanskaya Pravda, 2004). The main research question of this report is: What factors are contributing to youth unemployment?I will be investigating the reason young people cannot find jobs; despite the fact that the government is making everything they can to reduce the number of unemployed young people. As I am graduating soon this issue has a direct connection to me, so I also want to find out what can I do to avoid this problem. In order to answer the key research question I will follow the three research objectives. Firstly, as I have written in the previous paragraphs young people have a huge influence on the economy of any country.That is why I will analyze the current economic, social and political situation in Kazakhstan. The struggle to correlate these two areas of black women’s lives encompuses the goals and mission of each movement and therefore allows black women to be whole in their personal and political lives. The movement spawned several important organizations in the early 1970’s that are committed to struggle against all forms of oppression. The organizing of women in Africa began in the 1920s, principally in the laundry, clothing, mattress, furniture and baking industries. While several black national federations were formed and dissolved, the one that endured was the Non-European Trade Union Federation, formed in 1928. Their position was that racial divisions should not split a union. They sought free compulsory education for all races and an end to employment discrimination by incorporating education and training for all races. Women were being both organized and trained to lead. Burkean Parlor Definition and Examples The Burkean parlor is a   metaphor  introduced by philosopher and rhetorician Kenneth Burke (1897-1993) for the unending conversation that is going on at the point in history when we are born (see below). Many writing centers employ the metaphor of the Burkean parlor to characterize collaborative efforts to help students not only improve their writing and but also view their work in terms of a larger conversation. In an influential article in The Writing Center Journal (1991), Andrea Lunsford argued that writing centers modeled on the Burkean parlor pose a threat as well as a challenge to the status quo in higher education, and she encouraged writing center directors to embrace that challenge. The Burkean Parlor is also the name of a discussion section in the print journal Rhetoric Review. Burkes Metaphor for the Unending Conversation Imagine that you enter a parlor. You come late. When you arrive, others have long preceded you, and they are engaged in a heated discussion, a discussion too heated for them to pause and tell you exactly what it is about. In fact, the discussion had already begun long before any of them got there so that no one present is qualified to retrace for you all the steps that had gone before. You listen for a while until you decide that you have caught the tenor of the argument; then you put in your oar. Someone answers; you answer him; another comes to your defense; another aligns himself against you, to either the embarrassment or gratification of your opponent, depending upon the quality of your allys assistance.
